Leisure
The year 2009 will see the addition of a spa to the Shelbourne’s ranks and so guests will have a further excuse to make the most of this top Irish venue. Currently there is a gym at the hotel which contains a range of weights and other facilities aimed at boosting your fitness and cardiovascular capacity.
If you are looking to hit some tees and putt for some birdies, there are plenty of golf courses around to enable you to do just that. Approximately 20 kilometres away there are two courses at the Druids Glen which itself is near to the Marriott Druids Glen Hotel. A little closer to home is the Portmarnock Golf Links which is around 10 kilometres away, while there are also the likes of the European Club and the Wicklow Golf Club well within reach.
While the Shelbourne’s spa is under construction it is possible to travel to experience the heights of relaxation at nearby facilities. There is a spa at the Marriott Druids Glen, while a little closer is the Day Dream Health Spa and the Nue Blue Eriu.
Meanwhile, if you are hoping to spend some time travelling around the streets of Dublin, soaking up the atmosphere and viewing some of its sights, you are ideally placed if staying at the Shelbourne. In the city you will find the likes of:
- Bank of Ireland Arts Centre
- Dublin City Hall
- Irish Museum of Modern art
- Guinness Storehouse
- Dublin Castle
- Dublin Writers Museum
